What is this blog about?

I guess from the title of this blog you can tell there's not a theme.

However, I do plan to mainly discuss books, movies, and songs. Mostly books. I love to read and I'd love to hear about your favorite books.

One of the best books I discovered this year was "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Since it was published several years ago I was a little late to this party. I was aware when I read the first book that the Swedish author had passed away in 2004. However, I knew there were three books so I assumed (we all know never to do this) that it was a trilogy and that there would be a clear ending.

After reading the first book I learned that the writer, Stieg Larsson, had planned a ten book series. Hmm..well. I didn't see that coming. That means after I finished the first three I'm left wondering what plot lines and characters the last seven books would have involved. But that's okay.

The main character of the book is Lisbeth Salander. She's been abused by the system in every way imaginable, but has learned to fight back in her own way. The book is set in Sweden and was originally published there. A movie was made but it's in Swedish so you'll have to read sub-titles. I do think the movie did a good job sticking with the characters and storyline of the book. I've heard they're going to make the movie in America. I hope it's as good as the Swedish version.

I have to warn you, some of the scenes in the book are very graphic. But it makes you cheer for Lisbeth all the more.

This probably won't be your idea of cheerful holiday reading, but if you know a mystery lover that you're trying to shop for this Christmas then this is a great choice.
You can find it here:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

That is an affiliate link. But I want you to know that I'll never suggest anything on this blog that I haven't personally read.

If you're looking for one of those books that you'll stay up too late reading ...then I assure you,  Lisbeth's story is one of those.
